How message length turns into SMS credits and what to check before you send.
SMS reaches any phone, no internet needed. It's charged per message segment, so the length matters.
What each message costs
- Up to 160 characters, the message counts as 1 SMS.
- Beyond that, it's split into 153-character segments, and each segment counts as one SMS.
- Accents and emoji can lower that limit. The counter under the text shows how many SMS the message will use.
Before you send
Check that contacts have a phone number with the country code and SMS consent. The estimated total shows before you confirm; the amount goes into the month's usage.
